Okay so it's been a good two weeks since I last did a '7 things 7 days' post which I was planning to make a regular feature on the blog. Uni work caught up with me and it all got a bit busy but this week it's back, and will continue as a regular feature every week from now on! Without further delay, here's the ups and downs of the past few weeks in the land of Laura...
1. Most of my essays, minus one that's due in in two weeks (note to self: start writing!!!), are now finally submitted which has meant a stress free past week. It's so nice not having about about 4 deadlines to worry about, and also means that my friends have finished their exams so normal student life can resume. Being locked in the library for two weeks straight trying to get them all done was not fun. But getting to go out and having house parties again is.
2. We sadly had to have one of my dogs put down mid January. She'd been with us for 12 years (since I was 8!) so it was a really sad time. She'd been quite ill for the last month or so, so it was expected but still absolutely heartbreaking. My other dog is coping well but still seems a little bit lost at times. That was a not so great part of my week.
3. Pangaea. Three times a year (freshers week, after January exams and after Summer exams) our University holds a massive one night festival that hosts some pretty amazing acts. It takes over the whole of the students union, the buildings and grass space around it and also Manchester Academies (it's a big 'un!). Each one has a different theme and everyone goes in fancy dress and it's one of the best nights ever. It's such a good way to wind down after exams. This time the theme was 'Space Odyssey' and featured a host of aliens, planets, black holes and space men. I help set up & organise the night with a group of other students and it's so much fun to help plan and decorate and then see it all come together on the night. If you're curious and want to see a bit more, you can check out the website (click here) which also contains some videos of the night, and previous ones too. It's honestly one of the best nights out I've ever had.
4. The Thursday just gone I headed back home from Uni for the weekend for my Dad's birthday. It's so nice coming back and having a relax every now and again. It's been a very lazy few days here, with the odd country walk and meal out thrown in but that's just what you need after a mental week at Uni. It's nice seeing everyone again, and also catching up on your sleep!
5. As we speak, I'm just about to order myself a Breville Blend Active Blender. I've wanted one of these since early November, but with Christmas presents to buy ordering one then was out of the question. However, now the skint month of January is over I have a teeny weeny bit more money (it's still not much when you're a student!) but I've decided I'm going to order one. I'm not the best at eating breakfast as I tend to just reach for toast or something quick that I can eat on my way to Uni but I'm hoping this will make my breakfast habits a little healthier. Please leave your favourite smoothie/juice recipes down below
6. The new Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer got leaked this week and it looks bloody brilliant. If you're a bit GoT fan like me, and have yet to see it, then you can check it out on YouTube (click here). If you've never seen Game of Thrones and are wondering whether or not it's worth the hype and worth a watch, then yes it is worth the hype and it is worth a watch. Why are you wasting your time reading my rambles when you could be watching it instead?!?
7. I've finally decided it's time to start my New Years Resolutions (a little late I know) but I've still been in holiday mode for the past month and being healthy/exercising is difficult during exam season when you're tied to your computer typing away at the current essay until 3am every night. So, it's about time to start. My main resolution is to improve my diet, as it could be a lot lot better than it is. Alongside this is getting off up my bum and doing a bit more exercise. This time last year I was a keen gym bunny and went at least 5 or 6 times a week, but I slipped out of that routine over Summer and the weight gradually crept on. I'm hoping if I up my exercise routine and eat a little better then it will come off again, as I'm feeling really crappy at the minute. If you could leave me your favourite routines/tips/advice/workouts/videos/anything that may help down below I'd be very grateful!
How's your past week been?

Ah bet you're so glad most of your work is submitted! I've got three coursework deadlines in the next few weeks, can't wait to get them out of the way!
